Dear Truus,

We are currently in Coronatime and many people keep repeating that this is thé time to try out new hobbies. Well, I already tried a lot of hobbies in the past and thus I decided to take up an old one. Cause I have to admit, I had a hobby that I had to give up for climbing after a painful and bloody discovery at a training. Since I coloured the holds red, rather than white.

Now that I have not been climbing for a while, my nails are back to their old length and it is possible again to paint them! So I have taken out my box filled with nail polish out of storage, blown off the dust, and picked a colour. I was fully ready, ready to paint my new long nails a lovely colour. However, it went terribly wrong, it was a complete disaster! The polish would not dry evenly and since it took an hour to do my one hand, I had to eat dinner in between. During dinner, I naturally kept denting it and since I tried to fix it after, it just ended up looking even uglier. But the worst is that after an hour, half of it was already gone!

Help, please.

Dear female TSAC'er,

Oh, I would die for them to paint my nails another colour than white, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

However, I get that you have the feeling that a disaster has struck, but don't worry. Picking up skills takes time just as taking up old skills that have been neglected for a while. take, for instance, a look at all those chaps climbing an 8a with ease. Without ever starting with the basics and repeatedly falling out of the wall, they would have never gotten where they are now. So, keep your head up and start with the basics, keep on making mistakes and most of all, keep practicing! Then it will all be alright in the end.

Also, keep in mind that this quarantine may be over quickly and you will soon be climbing again with fresh short clean nails!
