The TSAC pub quiz

The TSAC pub quiz…

Cue the trumpet noises, hold on to your white horses and lily-white butts, there it was: the famous TSAC pub quiz! Amid the social distancing debacle, it was the first digital pub quiz in the history of TSAC. Prepared to perfection, with even a dress rehearsal on the Tuesday before, almost nothing could go wrong. Presented by your ever jovial, frisky Colin (funny story: Bente would initially present it but didn't feel like it. So, she asked Colin. As you do...) and created by your ever diligent, hard-working AcCie, it was guaranteed to be an evening of great pleasure.

First off, we ended up in a true screen Valhalla from Discord with a grid of five by five screens at the peak (that is 25 screens, for the people that don’t study applied mathematics). Put a bunch of TSAC people together and usually chaos ensues, this Discord session was no exception. Fortunately, our proud, brave presenter was able to silence the audience and start the pub quiz!

And that pub quiz was a case of "you should have been there". Questions about the axes of an axolotl, seal peckers, an anteater that has the largest schwanz in proportion to its body, about how ducks lead a tragic sex life, horses that ejaculate after one 'thrust' – oh yes, and some more mountain questions but those were less fun – all passed by. Don’t worry, our beloved AcCie members are not oversexed or anything. Of course, the photo and music rounds could not be missed, both of which were also very diverse, for which tribute amices!

Remarkably enough, our dearest chairwoman complained about the lack of so-called enthusiasm from our very capable presenter. Although that opinion was shared on a small scale, the hypocrisy splashed out on a large scale. After all, she could have done it herself, but no, she felt too good for that.

One team that participated was proudly named 'NSAC over TSAC', with team members Joey (former money man), Rick (current VP), Jan (who can take a bat hang ad fundum because Rick (who has given explicit permission) has an anytimer on him; if you are reading this, please, Jan, good luck and we look forward to the result and process in the TSAC WhatsApp group) and Dim as an independent impartial oracle. Strangely enough, this team did win the pub quiz trophy. Is the NSAC so almighty, powerful and omniscient, or does the TSAC consist of below average peasants with a lack of general trivial knowledge? Who can tell? They probably just cheated and abused Dim.

Naturally, there was a nice drink afterwards, as per usual. This resulted in the same scene that started the evening: the chaos returned, and microphones yelled cheerfully, beer was drunk, and 39 different conversations were mixed up. A central session unfortunately wasn’t possible, but fortunately one could enjoy each other's frozen heads and overlapping orations. And so, the evening came to an end after a lot of chaotic fun in the wee tiny hours...

The PubliCie. would like to thank the AcCie for the nice organization, thank Colin for the cheerful presentation, Bente for the healthy, little bit of hypocritical criticism, the TSAC for the participation and the animal world that there are so many sexually tinted facts that are perfect for a pub quiz. ‘twas another great evening. We’ll definitely be there next time!
