TSAC members take part en masse in Stoptober

The Perco, a box of strong news

Enschede, 24 October 2022

The 22-year-old Aaron A. Aaronsen from Twente has been appointed as the figurehead of the Stoptober movement that reigns at the Twente Student Alpine Club. He started on 1 October; he only needs to keep it up for seven more days. At the TSAC, Aaron has become a real trendsetter. Following his campaign, 173 other members have joined the movement.

“People need to become more aware of the effects Stoptober can have,” says Aaron. "I'm glad I was able to persuade so many people to join. Hopefully this will become an annual tradition.”

Nationally, only 70 percent keep up with Stoptober for the entire month, but at the TSAC, the success rate so far is a whopping 100 percent. Only the instructors weren’t happy with Aaron's trend. They still cling to the outdated standards and have banned the TSAC members who participate in Stoptober from the hall evening.

When asked if Aaron plans to continue his trend after Stoptober, he answered enthusiastically: “Of course, I want to get rid of that stop knot on the end of the rope for good. It saves you the effort of an operation, so you can climb more. This only has positive effects on your body.”

To further modernize the TSAC, he wants to introduce a new trend every month. He is already looking forward to Dry January, when we will only be drytooling at the TSAC.
